AWARE
About The App
Aware, the first compliance solution on the market to streamline contextual privacy awareness across an entire business. Privacy legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe and the upcoming California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in the US have elevated the visibility of privacy professionals in the corporate world. However, many still feel confused about which privacy rules apply to them and the teams they support. With Aware, employees can hone in on areas of legislation that are relevant to their role and location and receive tailored updates that are easy to understand.
The Goal
Aware to provide a simple, one-stop access to privacy awareness learning, helping to reduce risk while increasing engagement, knowledge and accountability across an entire organization. With gamification elements designed to make privacy learning fun, its mission is to empower privacy champions at every level of the business.
Key benefits include:
The ability to maintain awareness across the organization
Engaging in visuals to support the learning process
Engaging with team or teams on content
Track Progress of Information being read
UX Process
User Research / User Personas
I started the process by researching news feed web applications. The Application needed to be seamless and work across all platforms because we have a wide range of users who would be using Desktop tablets and mobile phones to acquire their compliance. I made an analysis of the core features, the minimalist design and “ease of use” flow for displaying information.
Understanding the User’s Needs
In order to understand the user’s journey, I started to interview potential customers addressing problematic points and all the details about how they try to manage their finances. To create this customer journey, I chose to focus on users that still don’t use apps to control their finances, and are manually updating spreadsheets and also some that have tried to use other apps but have failed.
Wireframe / Prototyping
We started with the features we already had because we already had a good idea of which features were being used most also this was good for time to market and sales. We went back and forth with user research and lo-fidelity mock ups as much as we could with tweaks and fundamental rethinking of the features we had. After we got the features and tweaks down, I created Prototypes so the users could get a better feel of the product, it’s UI, and its functionality. Then we proceeded with the new features we wanted to add and the surveying and tweaking the features as much as we could, while keeping complexity for user low and keeping the UI clean.
Visual Design
The user interface had to be very easy to navigate through so users could quickly acquire privacy compliance. The application would be available for a broad spectrum of users and compliance with WCGA 2.0 was integrated within the design workflow. Usability and intuitiveness is crucial through the application for ease of use. The overall visual design is meant to be “clutter free” and minimalist.
The Team Lead / Manager dashboard was created so that users could keep track of the team data and metrics. The user dashboard was created so that non could keep track of their own statistics as well as basic info on their team members. Basic info is shown about team members so that if there is a “red” status members could encourage their team members or remind them about their goals to be met.
